The Stars are on the hunt for a new coach. Rick Bowness stepped down as coach on May 20th, 2022 after three seasons in Dallas. They have missed the playoffs four times during that period. In his nine seasons, the Stars made it to the Stanley Cup Finals in a 2019-20 loss to Tampa Bay. Jim Nill has been the GM in Dallas since April 29, 2013, and will be entering his 10th season with them in 2022-23. They will be challenged to repeat that next season as they have some salary cap and depth issues. They lost in the first round to the Calgary Flames in a hard-fought seven games, with the deciding game going to overtime.
